Los Pelicanos Ocean Club: Costa Rica’s First and Only Titled Deepwater Ocean Access Community

Quepos, Costa Rica (PRWEB) March 26, 2010 -- Well known for having the best blue water fishing anywhere in the world, the Southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica now has a haven for fisherman and boating enthusiasts to call home – The Los Pelicanos Ocean Club.

Located just off the Costanera Highway about six miles north of Quepos, Los Pelicanos (http://www.lospelicanosoceanclub.com) is the very first and only titled deepwater ocean access community in Costa Rica.

“Imagine leaving the dock from your own backyard and within minutes you are passing through the Damas Island mangroves, coming face-to-face with Manuel Antonio National Park and heading out to the Pacific where the best fishing spots on the planet are located,” said Dave Matluck, chief executive officer of Pegasus Star Limitada, as he painted a picture of what an owner would experience. “If you’ve never heard of Los Pelicanos Ocean Club before, don’t worry, you will soon enough. This hidden treasure won’t be a secret for long!”

Matluck, whose sister company, Pura Verde Costa Rica Properties, is helping to market the new boating and fishing community, and who is an avid boater and fisherman himself, is excited about Los Pelicanos.

“It’s a 15 minute ride by boat to the new marina,” Matluck explained, “and the ride through Damas Island is just spectacular. Most people pay tour operators to experience that ride.”

The marina Matluck speaks of is the recently constructed five-star Marina Pez Vela, Central America’s first and only full service marina. Scheduled to open April 21 with its first 100 slips, the 55-plus acre marina creates a major destination for Pacific boating and fishing enthusiasts. Upon final completion, the marina will have 300 concrete floating dock slips able to accommodate boats up to 200 feet. The marina will have the only full-service repair facility for hundreds of miles, complete with 75-ton and 200-ton travel-lifts, unique to all of Central America. Marina Pez Vela will also include a fully staffed maintenance facility capable of any repairs or service required.

As for the ride through Damas Island, it is particularly noted for its estuaries lined with mangroves. Boat and kayak tours through the island's estuaries are popular excursions with tourists staying in the area. Wildlife on the island includes white-faced monkeys, sloths, green iguanas, spectacled caimans, crab-eating raccoons and silky anteaters, as well as crabs and numerous bird species.

Not to be outdone, the area around Los Pelicanos Ocean Club also has unparalleled beaches, wild rivers and a wide variety of shopping and restaurants. As many will admit, it is ideally located in the path of growth and development. And of course Manuel Antonio National Park draws more visitors to it annually than any other attraction in the country.

But even with all the beauty and conveniences of the area, and the fact that there are 82 home sites at Los Pelicanos, each with their own dock, and another 44 condominiums where owners can keep their boats in the property harbor, there’s no doubt what will truly attract boat owners.

“It’s all about the fishing,” Matluck admitted. “If you’re a true fisherman, then Los Pelicanos is the place you want to live.”

The waters off the coast are known for record-breaking catches of sailfish, marlin, dorado, snapper, yellow fin tuna, roosterfish, tarpon, wahoo and snook, making Costa Rica a veritable fisherman’s paradise. It is not uncommon to catch and release 30 sailfish and even a marlin or two – in just one day. Boat operators release all billfish that are not record contenders; the waters hold many world records. According to the International Game Fish Association, Costa Rica holds 21 All Tackle world records, 41 Line Test world records and 18 Fly Fish world records.

Matluck drove his point home. “Even if the gated community didn’t have a large and spacious clubhouse, which it does … even if it didn’t have a large infinity swimming pool, which it does … even if there were no plans for a tennis court, or poolside bar, or gym, or game room that will be included, nor a self-contained center for food and other needs that will be on the property, which there are … even without all that, if you are a true fisherman or boater and you want to live in Costa Rica, this is where you want to call home! Let me put it this way, my two favorite things to do in the world are walking through a rainforest and being out on a boat, if I had to make a choice between Los Pelicanos and the property my company was developing (Hacienda Matapalo (http://www.haciendamatapalo.com)), it would be a very difficult decision to make.”

Los Pelicanos Ocean Club is being developed by Su Casa Desarollos de Vivienda S.A (http://www.sucasa.co.cr), one of the most respected real estate developers in Central America and one of the leading experts in marine engineering and development. To further entice boaters and fishermen, Su Casa is offering financing to buyers and the timeframe from contract to move-in is only four to six months.
